Michigan Senate: Three-Way Fundraising Split

The Michigan Senate race produced the most crowded set of competitive filings this period. Democrat Haley Stevens reported $11.9 million in total receipts and $2.8 million cash on hand after $9.1 million in disbursements. Democrat Mallory McMorrow filed close behind with $11.4 million raised, but her burn rate left her with just $1.9 million on hand against $9.5 million spent. Republican Mike Rogers raised $10.9 million and retained $4.5 million in the bank, giving him the largest cash cushion of the three despite trailing both Democrats in total receipts.

Ohio and New Hampshire Senate: Incumbency-Scale Hauls

Sherrod Brown, a Democrat running in the Ohio Senate race, posted the largest fundraising total in this batch of filings at $38.6 million in total receipts, with $16.2 million still on hand after spending $22.3 million. In the New Hampshire Senate race, Democrat Chris Pappas raised $13.4 million and holds $5.2 million in cash after $8.6 million in disbursements. Both filings represent substantially larger sums than most other Senate campaigns in this reporting period.

House Filings: Vindman and McClain Delaney

In the Virginia 7th District, Democrat Eugene Vindman reported $12.4 million in total receipts and $6.6 million cash on hand, having spent $5.9 million. In Maryland, Democrat April McClain Delaney raised a similar $12.3 million in the Maryland 6th District race, but disbursements of $12 million left her with just $307,611 in the bank — the tightest cash position of any filing in this set.

Republican Senate Filings: Whatley, Ricketts, Rogers

On the Republican side, Michael Whatley in the North Carolina Senate race raised $11.3 million and holds $3.5 million on hand. Pete Ricketts, running in the Nebraska Senate race, raised $11.2 million and reported the strongest cash position among Republicans in this batch at $6.9 million, after spending just $4.8 million. Primary Season Kicks Into Gear

Six states hold primaries in the coming weeks: Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, Virginia, and Washington on August 4, followed by Tennessee on August 6. Each contest will set the general-election fields for Senate, House, and governor's races in those states, giving the first concrete look at nominees in several closely watched gubernatorial contests.

Governor's Races Worth Tracking

Among the states voting in the next two weeks, both Kansas's governor's race and Michigan's governor's race carry competitive general-election ratings — Kansas rated Lean R and Michigan rated Likely D. Primary results there will clarify which candidates carry those ratings into the fall.

Toss-Up Governor's Races Elsewhere

Outside this month's primary states, Arizona's governor's race, Florida's governor's race, and Nevada's governor's race remain rated Toss-up. Georgia, Iowa, and New Mexico are rated Lean D, while New Hampshire is rated Likely R. These races warrant continued attention as the primary calendar advances in other states.
