How to cite

Cite as: “Roy Cooper leads by 9.3 points in the PollingSource average (pollingsource.com/senate/NC).”

Always name the race page. The table on that page is the source. If you can see the polls, you can recompute the number.

What the average is

The unweighted mean of every scientific public poll whose fieldwork ended in the last 30 days. No house effects. No sample-size weights. Campaign- and party-sponsored polls stay in and are flagged. Unscientific self-select polls and other sites’ averages stay out.

Embed and API

• Every race page has a copy-paste iframe under the trend chart. The embed credits and links back to PollingSource.
• Platforms that support oEmbed can pull the chart from the race URL.
• Public JSON at /api/v1. Free with attribution: cite the PollingSource average and link the race page.
