Oregon's Multi-Seat Fundraising Gap

Financial disclosures across several Oregon House contests show a wide spread in cash reserves. Janelle Bynum, a Democrat, leads all Oregon House fundraisers with $2.72 million in cash on hand, built on $3.76 million in total receipts against just $1.09 million spent. That reserve dwarfs every other candidate in the state's House delegation data.

Cliff Bentz, a Republican, holds the second-largest war chest at $1.42 million, despite raising less overall than several Democratic colleagues — a sign of comparatively lighter spending, just $646,983 disbursed against $1.01 million raised. By contrast, Democrat Andrea Salinas raised $1.61 million but has burned through most of it, leaving $611,102 on hand, while Democrat Maxine Dexter shows the steepest drawdown among top fundraisers, converting $1.04 million in receipts into just $173,686 in reserves.

Further down the fundraising list, Republicans Monique DeSpain and Patti Adair report $387,694 and $135,365 on hand respectively, both trailing the top Democratic and Republican fundraisers by wide margins. Minor-party candidate Jessica Salas shows a negative cash balance of -$39.23 against minimal receipts.

What to Watch

🗳 Voting this week

What to Watch

Runoff elections are set for August 25, 2026, in two states. In Oklahoma, primary runoffs will decide nominees for Senate, House, and governor races. In South Carolina, a Senate primary runoff is also scheduled for that date. Readers should watch for which candidates advance in each contest and the turnout patterns heading into the runoff period.

Beyond the runoffs, several gubernatorial races merit continued attention given their competitive ratings. The Georgia governor's race and the Ohio governor's race are both rated Toss-up, making them the most closely contested contests on the board. The Arizona and Maine governor's races lean Democratic, while Florida and Kansas lean Republican.

Also worth tracking: the New Mexico governor's race leans Democratic, while Iowa and Nevada are rated Likely R and Michigan Likely D. Movement in any of these ratings ahead of the runoffs would be a signal worth flagging in future briefings.
