What to Watch

🗳 Voting this week

What to Watch

Runoff elections land on August 25 in two states. In Oklahoma, runoffs are set for the Senate race along with House and gubernatorial contests. The same day, South Carolina holds a runoff in its Senate race. Watch turnout levels compared to the initial primary, which typically signal which factions are more motivated heading into the fall.

Beyond the runoffs, a cluster of governor's races remains worth tracking as ratings stay tight in several states. The Georgia governor's race and the Ohio governor's race are both rated Toss-up, making them the most competitive contests on the board. Several others sit just outside that tier: Florida, Kansas, and Nevada each lean or lie likely Republican, while Arizona, Maine, Michigan, and New Mexico lean or lie likely Democratic, and Iowa is rated Likely R. None of these classifications should be read as settled — movement in any of them over the coming weeks would reshape the broader map.
