North Carolina's House Map: A Fundraising Divide Between Battleground and Safe Seats

The financial data spans several North Carolina House contests, and the numbers split clearly along competitive lines. Don Davis, a Democrat, leads all listed candidates with $4.29 million in total receipts and $3.57 million cash on hand, while Republican Laurie Buckhout has raised $3.79 million but spent aggressively, leaving $1.83 million on hand. That contrast — Davis banking more than double Buckhout's cash reserve despite a smaller spending gap — suggests a race where Davis enters the fall with more financial flexibility, in the NC-01 race, rated Lean R.

Elsewhere, spending patterns diverge sharply. Democrat Richard N. Ojeda has burned through nearly all his $2.24 million in receipts, leaving just $163,672 on hand — the tightest cash position in the dataset. Republican Richard Hudson shows a similar pattern, $3.22 million raised against $2.51 million spent, leaving $1.34 million banked.

By contrast, Republicans Virginia Foxx and Greg Murphy show comparatively low burn rates, each retaining more cash on hand than their total receipts alone would suggest — Foxx holds $3.37 million against $1.66 million raised, indicating carryover funds from prior cycles rather than fresh fundraising strength this period.
