Washington House Fundraising: Schrier's Reserves Lead a Crowded Delegation

Among Washington House candidates in the data, Democrat Kim Schrier holds the largest war chest at $3.5 million cash on hand, despite raising less overall than several colleagues — $3 million in total receipts against modest disbursements of $1.3 million. That spending restraint has let her reserves build faster than anyone else in the state's delegation.

Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, whose seat carries a Lean D rating, posted the highest total receipts of the group at $6.3 million and has spent aggressively, disbursing $4.3 million and leaving $2.1 million on hand. Democrat Suzan DelBene raised $3.6 million but has burned through nearly all of it, reporting just $1.1 million in reserve after $3.5 million in disbursements.

On the Republican side, John Braun reported $2.2 million raised against only $947,406 spent, leaving him with $1.3 million on hand — a more conservative burn rate than most Democrats in the dataset. Democrat Emily Randall trails the field with $241,630 remaining after nearly exhausting her $1.2 million in receipts.

Primary Season Opens in the Northeast

The next week brings the first state primaries of the cycle. New Hampshire votes September 8 in contests for Senate, House, and governor, followed by Rhode Island on September 9 with the same slate of offices. Delaware closes out the stretch on September 15 with Senate and House primaries. These are the earliest tests of how candidates in each party are faring with their own voters before the general election map comes into fuller focus.

Governor's Races to Watch

Among the ten gubernatorial contests rated competitive, four are Toss-ups: Florida, Kansas, Nevada, and Ohio. Georgia leans Republican, while Iowa, Maine, and New Mexico lean Democratic; Arizona and Michigan are rated Likely D. With no debates or primaries scheduled in these states this week, watch for any shifts in polling averages on the toss-up races, which will carry outsized weight in determining which party controls the largest number of governorships next year.
