Alabama House Fields: A Crowded Money Race Rated Likely R
Alabama's House contests show a wide gap between top fundraisers and the rest of the field. Mike Rogers, a Republican, leads all Alabama House candidates in cash on hand with $2.59 million, followed closely by Democrat Terri Sewell at $3.75 million on hand despite raising slightly less in total receipts ($1.96 million to Rogers's $2.13 million). Republican Dale Strong also posts a strong position, with $1.42 million on hand against modest spending of $682,462.
Further down the list, financial disparities widen. Democrat Shomari Figures raised $1.36 million but has burned through much of it, leaving $662,600 on hand, while Republicans Jerry Lee, Carl Jr, Gary Palmer, and Robert Aderholt each show cash reserves below $750,000 despite raising over $1 million apiece. Aderholt's disbursements of $1.24 million exceeded his receipts.
Smaller-dollar candidates trail significantly: Democrat Andrew Sneed and Republicans Hampton Harris and Ammie Akin each report under $650,000 in total receipts, with cash on hand ranging from $115,936 to $169,719.

What to Watch
🗳 Voting this week- Oklahoma runoff — Tuesday, August 25 (TODAY)
- South Carolina runoff — Tuesday, August 25 (TODAY)
- Massachusetts primary — Tuesday, September 1 (in 7 days)
Runoffs Set for August 25
Oklahoma and South Carolina head to runoff elections on August 25. Oklahoma's runoff spans three offices — Senate, House, and governor — while South Carolina's is confined to its Senate contest. These outcomes will set the general-election fields in two Republican-leaning states.
Massachusetts Primary Ahead
Massachusetts voters go to the polls September 1 in primaries covering Senate, House, and governor races. That contest will close out the current stretch of primary activity before attention shifts more fully to the general election calendar.
Governors' Races to Track
Among the ten gubernatorial contests being monitored, Georgia and Ohio stand out as toss-ups, making them the most competitive on the board. Florida, Kansas, and Nevada lean or are likely Republican, while Arizona, Maine, Michigan, and Oregon lean or are likely Democratic. Iowa is rated Likely R. With runoffs and a primary landing in the coming week, watch for how nominee selection in Oklahoma and South Carolina shapes the broader map ahead of these general contests.
