Biography

Mike Simmons is a Democratic politician currently serving in the Illinois State Senate, representing the 7th district covering Chicago neighborhoods including Rogers Park, Edgewater, and Lincoln Square since his appointment in February 2021. He was re-elected to his state senate seat in both 2022 and 2024. Simmons is running as a challenger in the 2026 election for Illinois' 9th congressional district.
