# Janice Schakowsky Janice Schakowsky is a Democrat representing Illinois's 9th congressional district in the U.S. House, where she has served since 1999. Prior to her election to Congress, she served in the Illinois House of Representatives from 1991 to 1998. She is seeking reelection to her current House seat.
