Vernon Buchanan is a Republican businessman and Air Force National Guard veteran who has served in the U.S. House of Representatives since 2007, currently representing Florida's 16th congressional district, which is anchored by Bradenton. He previously represented Florida's 13th congressional district before redistricting realigned his seat in 2013. Buchanan announced in January 2026 that he would not seek re-election.
