Biography

Michael Baumgartner is a Republican currently serving as the U.S. representative from Washington's 5th congressional district, a position he has held since 2025. Previously, he served in the Washington State Senate representing the 6th district from 2011 to 2019 and as Spokane County treasurer. In 2012, he was his party's nominee for the U.S. Senate, running unsuccessfully against Democratic incumbent Maria Cantwell.
