Biography

Jeffrey Merkley is the junior United States senator from Oregon, a position he has held since his election in 2008. Prior to his Senate service, he represented Oregon's 47th House district from 1999 to 2009 and served as Speaker of the Oregon House of Representatives during his final two years in that chamber. He is seeking reelection to the Senate.
