Biography
Xavier Becerra is an American attorney who has held several prominent positions in state and federal government, including U.S. Representative from California (1993-2017), California Attorney General (2017-2021), and Secretary of Health and Human Services (2021-2025). He is the Democratic nominee for California governor in the 2026 general election. If elected, Becerra would be the first Hispanic or Latino governor of California since 1875.
