# Richard Durbin Richard Durbin is the incumbent U.S. Senator from Illinois, serving since 1997, and holds the position of Senate Majority Whip. A Democrat from Springfield, Durbin previously represented Illinois's 13th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1983 to 1997. He is seeking reelection to the U.S. Senate.
