Hakeem Jeffries is an attorney and politician who has represented New York's 8th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives since 2013, currently serving his seventh term. Since 2023, he has served as House Minority Leader and leader of the House Democratic Caucus. Prior to his election to Congress, Jeffries served three terms in the New York State Assembly from 2007 to 2012.
