Biography

Pramila Jayapal is the U.S. representative from Washington's 7th congressional district, a position she has held since 2017. She represents most of Seattle and surrounding areas of King County, and previously served in the Washington State Senate representing the 37th legislative district from 2015 to 2017. Jayapal is the first Indian American woman to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives and the first Asian American to represent Washington at the federal level.
