Biography

Cory Booker is the senior United States senator from New Jersey, a position he has held since 2013, and is the first African-American U.S. senator from the state. Before his election to the Senate, Booker served as the 38th mayor of Newark from 2006 to 2013 and on Newark's Municipal Council representing the Central Ward from 1998 to 2002. He is a lawyer and member of the Democratic Party.
