Biography

John Garamendi is a Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives who has represented Northern California districts since 2009, including areas between San Francisco and Sacramento such as Fairfield and Vacaville. Prior to his election to Congress, Garamendi served as California's lieutenant governor from 2007 to 2009, as state insurance commissioner during two separate periods, and as U.S. Deputy Secretary of the Interior. He is a businessman and has held various state and federal positions throughout his political career.
