Biography

James Enos Clyburn has represented South Carolina's 6th congressional district in the U.S. House since his election in 1992 and is currently serving his 17th term. His district encompasses majority-Black areas throughout the Lowcountry and central regions of South Carolina, including areas around Columbia, Charleston, and Beaufort. As the longest-serving member of South Carolina's current congressional delegation, Clyburn is the sole Democrat in the state's delegation.
