Biography

Eric Sorensen is a meteorologist and Democratic politician serving as the U.S. representative for Illinois's 17th congressional district, a position he has held since 2023. His district encompasses portions of western and central Illinois, including the Quad Cities area and parts of Peoria and Rockford. Sorensen is the first openly gay member of Congress from Illinois.
