Biography

Kweisi Mfume is the U.S. Representative for Maryland's 7th congressional district, a position he has held since 2020 following previous service from 1987 to 1996. Between his congressional tenures, Mfume served as president and CEO of the NAACP from 1996 to 2004 and ran unsuccessfully for U.S. Senate in 2006. He returned to the House after being elected to fill the seat vacated by the death of Congressman Elijah Cummings.
