Biography

Gary Peters is a Democratic politician and lawyer from Michigan who has served as the state's senior U.S. Senator since 2015. Prior to his Senate election, Peters represented Michigan's 14th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2009 to 2015, representing areas including Detroit, the Grosse Pointes, and Pontiac. He is a former naval officer who also practiced law before entering electoral politics.
