Biography

Steny Hoyer is a retired attorney who has represented Maryland's 5th congressional district in the U.S. House since 1981. He served as House Majority Leader during two separate periods (2007-2011 and 2019-2023) and held the position of second-ranking Democrat in the House from 2003 to 2023. Hoyer is seeking reelection to his current House seat.
